Soaked my teeth, bones, and other fossils in apple cider vinegar overnight and up to two days, depending on the buildup. Then just used an old soft bristle toothbrush to rub off anything left under running water. Worked like a charm.. my babies are now clean and don't smell like dead fish :)

can't you just use ketchup???? or is that only for pennies and anything copper or silver????

I've never used ketchup, but it might work. I used to use hot sauce (like tabasco) to clean pennies and coins.. that might work well too.

Hey Kangaroo,
Who did you dive with to find the teeth and other cool stuff in Venice Beach? I'm headed down that way soon and would really like to hook up with them.

Florida West Scuba. www.floridawestscuba.com

The guy who owns it is a retired palaeontologist from a university (i think). He knows a lot about all the fossils to be found and knows the good beds too. Some of the spots he takes you to are just off the beach... close enough you think you could swim out (in the three quarters of a mile to a mile range)... but i've tried it, an it's worth the 60 bucks for the charter, which includes two al 80s and the usual charter services and fun.

Great charter... i've been out several times, and HIGHLY reccomended.

However, call asap, he books way out in advance and quick.

I am booked with these guys for the 6th of may and am looking forward to it,I booked some time in january this year.anyone else from this forum going on that day.

Hmm.. well, if its any consolation, a few of us south gang types are wanting to run our own boats out of there. The areas are known where the charter goes, so its just a matter of getting there... Once we get our boat(s) transport bit figured out we'll be able to give rides for an offset of the gas $ via gas kitty :)

Friggin $2.59-.79 per gallon up that way now!
