Cleaning clam shells

I took some clam shells home from a recent trip and I have them soaking in water and they smell and it seems they are turning green with mold.

1. How can I get rid of the smell and mold?
2. What is the best type of stuff to soak or clean them with to wash the dirt and other things off them?

Let some ants eat/clean them out for you, check them in a week. Most of the smell and all the meat and funk will be gone.
