Great report as always.

Let me know what you decide to do next week. If you do the river the wife and I will probably head down Sunday if Dive Haven isn't looking good.

We will make our decision Friday (waiting to see if we get the rain Thursday). If it rains much, we lose the vis in the river. I'll post then.

Let us know. I've been told viz is bad at Dive Haven.

Exactly where is this river?

The river is in downtown Augusta (you would take 1-20 to riverwatch parkway (last exit in GA) and follow it downtown. The river is the boundary between SC and GA. We will dive either the lake or river depending on the amount of rain we get tonight. Lake vis has been good and is not effected as much by rain. A heavy rain can make the river pretty much undiveable. I'll post tomorrow as to the plan, but you might want to pm me a phone number just in case we get rain Saturday night (there is a small chance). The river dive is interesting.Vis lately has been about 10'. Depths are 20' max, current is usually mild and we drift anyway. There is a bit of history on this dive. A shipwreck from the 1920s or 30s (depending on what story you believe). There are also the old Hamburg cotton docks. When cotton was king, there was a very long (about a mile or so) dock where barges and ships would dock to load up cotton to carry to Savannah. This is about 1/4 of the way out into the river from the SC side. The docks were cut off about 3' underwater, but the rock base and posts remain and make a good fish habitat. The Georgia side has large boulders, the remains of the old Hamburg bridge and other neat stuff. It is about a 1- 1/2 hour dift dive depending on current. Water temps will probably be in the 60s (5-7mm with hood and gloves temps).

At this point Plan A for Sunday is the river at 1pm. Plan B is the lake. Checked out the river today and it looks nice. However, the forecast calls for some showers this weekend. They said this for last weekend and it was dry. Who knows. We will probably make our final call Sunday a.m.. Reefwatcher, I sent you a pm.

Diveprof, I met up with you back in early april at the dam while diving with my son. Any chance yall might be at the dam on sat? Ill be there in town and wanted to try and get one or two in If I cound find some one to dive with...
Ron

Sorry I somehow missed your post Ron. I am not diving Saturday as I'll be at a family reunion. Some of the other folks may dive, but I am not sure. If they do it would probably be between 9-10. I am diving Sunday afternoon. If no to limited rain, it will be the river, If rain it will be the lake (1p). It'll be two tanks at the lake or 1 tank at the river.
