Winter diving already. Plus much additional H2O from all the rain. Get this... they are actually trying to lower the lake for repairs to the dam  any other year this means just reducing flow or stopping the flow due to drought, but with mega rain the river is running 4+ knots and waaay high (boat ramps are flooded). Vis is generally low 4-5' and cooling (mid 50s). Crazy fish stuff. All fish are negatively bouyant (due to low O2 content in the water?) and just sit on the bottom. Some nice bass and bluegill though. Today the local dive shop owner suggested we need a psych eval for diving in these conditions (nice guy though, just doesn't hear the voices we do - OK, someone in the area is still sane....:D).

with all the rain, how is the visibility?

Nothing like a lil blackwater 4' viz or less to get the blood flowing.

Well we certainly have a bit of that right now. Oh, but the change from wetsuit to dry clothes post dives in sub freezing weather with a howling wind really gets the blood flowing. :D

"really gets the blood flowing". ROFLOL

THat is what stops the blood from flowing. I watched a Rescue diver dive in a pond today to find a car. I am glad that was not me.

I gather you guys arent Some of those Polar Bear swimmer types that hit the beach in January and February???

Going swimming in these temps? Naw, those folks are crazy. Now scuba...well that's different and would be perfectly acceptable behavior. :shakehead: We plan to do so this Sunday if I can find my ice axe.

We are diving at E. Dam Clark Hill Sunday at 1pm/ Rumors of ice 24" from shore are being ignored:D
