back to me original question; is the 28lb wing enough with 12l alu tank use?
Yes, given the description of your diving ('I only ever dive warmish water (rash guard and boardies - 5mm full wetsuit) '), the lift is quite adequate. I dive a 30lb wing with steel backplate and steel cylinder (HP100 or HP120) and 30lbs is more than enough. With an AL cylinder, you will be fine.

Thanks for everyone's opinions and thoughts :) It's very helpful to see where people are coming from when you're trying to decide on new kit that you don't have first hand experience of. In the end, I bought the WTX setup as I preferred the cmoplete package. It'll also compliment my Apeks XTX regs that have been with me for nearly 10 years and never once had an issue.

Regarding how heavy the wing is; I used to dive on a stupidly buoyant Mares Dragon that weighed around 4.5kgs so it's definitely going to be lighter than that, and require less weight. :)
