4 !!!! I assume he was joking. I would not even drive a car after 4.

Says the fellow who out of curiosity took 1/2 of one once. Would not have dove for at least 12 hours either. Not because of DCS but because I could tell my head felt a bit different even on 25 mg.

A recent DAN article said that Sildenafil may increase the risk and severeness of DCS if taken before the dive 4-8 hours. But it may be beneficial, if used after the dive.

Does it help with DCS also?

Does it help with DCS also?

I was wrong saying: "But it may be beneficial, if used after the dive." Actually, it might help exactly in treatment of DCS or consequences of it:

"However, what may not be beneficial in one situation can be beneficial in other circumstances: the elevation of cerebral blood flow and the improvement of functional recovery of ischemic tissue have been shown to be beneficial in the treatment of stroke with sildenafil 24 hours after onset of ischemic stroke. This gives new hope that sildenafil could be useful as an adjuvant (i.e. supportive) treatment of ischemic neurological DCS in divers who have not recovered after initial treatment with hyperbaric oxygen."

Just MHO and a WAG, based on zero first-hand experience.

You could be an American Congress-person!
Those idiots write laws all the time, based on both zero first-hand experience, and no knowledge or understanding of the subject.

Of course you can. Anything's possible. Question is, ought you to?

If I were you, I'd probably pass on the third and the fourth Viagra. Just MHO and a WAG, based on zero first-hand experience.

Okay, thanks good advice, I'm thinking after 4 it might be too tight of a squeeze getting through the confined spaces of the devil's throat.

That's a very extreme dive the rats were exposed to. I never dive to 90 meters let alone to 45 mins at that depth. And the dose of Viagra was huge: 10 mg/kg translates to 700 mg to human weight, while the common dose is 50 mg. I'm not sure if the conclusions have any implication for the recreational human diver.

I concur. Sildenafil and other PDE inhibitors increase the risk of O2 toxicity at normal doses; I can't imagine what 700 mg would do to a human.

Best regards,
