Hello everyone........... I'm new to this site, and new to message boards (slow, I know). But I'm keen to read about your scuba adventures and I'll do my best to share any I have with you.
As a UK resident, I do occasionally dive at home. But my true love is in the warm waters of the Caribbean which I visit as often as possible. Barbados is not one of the recognised dive sites of the world - I never see it in the dive books - but when that means less crowding, it just makes it all the more attractive.
I dive Red Sea, too, and it gets a bit tiring sometimes losing members of your group to other groups. Know what I mean? I was there a few weeks ago, and diving the Thistlegorm was like shopping at Sainsbury's on a Saturday afternoon. But - the Red Sea does have a wondrous variety of life underwater, and much bigger species than commonly seen in the Eastern Caribbean. And there's always that chance of catching the Hammerheads and Dolphins.
Most of all, though, I love spending time with my diving buddies. Maybe I'm just blessed, but I have met so many wonderful people since taking up scuba 3 years ago. The camaraderie is amazing. The maturity of attitude and the wisdom is awesome. Sure - there are times when the thought "where did you say you qualified?????" comes to mind, but they are far outweighed by the incredible learning experiences from every interaction.
So - this experience is new to me. I'm sure it will be another example of the generosity of spirit in the diving community and I look forward to hearing your thoughts, opinions and exploits.
