Recently we passed our 1000 finds milestone. It's a fun hobby.

I need to hide a scuba cache soon......

Here's our geocaching profile..

Sounds like a great sport. It even sounds better when combined with scuba. Now all I have to do is convince my wife we need a GPS.

Remember, your local pawn shops will have GPS'. I remember seeing a brand new GPS in mine a couple of weeks ago. It was only $40.00 - $50.00, I think.

My sister and brother in law have been geocaching for about a year - they love it. What's cool is that there are caches worldwide - on our recent trip to Europe we had done some research on caches located in some of the cities we would be in - we figured it would be a fun way to spend a few afternoons when we had nothing else planned, as well as getting out to areas we would not have seen otherwise.

Unfortunately, in the last minute packing frenzy, she forgot to pack the GPS unit.

Hey Al...it says i have to register to see your geo profile. Is that right?

yeah i got that message too

Okay, so I'm off to go research and buy a GPS. I have always wanted an excuse to buy one. Now I can get my non-scuba diving hubby to come along with me and do some geocaching! I also look forward to coming up with some good ideas for goodies to leave when I find my treasure! Whoo-hoo!

Geocaching is fun!

I placed an underwater cache in May, in Kingston Ontario. It's called the Ambitious Snorkeller because you could probably find and retrieve it without the benefit of scuba like the first finder did just recently - he just swam out although it apparently took him several tries to make it down 15'. :D

I'm FreeFloat on the Geocaching board too, if any registered users want to look me up.......

I didn't think you had to regisiter to see a profile, sorry. Maybe it's because I viewed my profile while I was logged in and used that link. Who knows. Registering is free, just like this forum.

Our user names are Lazyboy & Mitey Mite on www.geocaching.com

I just got back from a dive trip to Grand Cayman. I found 5 caches, 3 of which were on my last day there while I was burning off my nitrogen before I could fly. I was very disapointed that there were no scuba caches there. Oh well, it was a lot of fun and I was able to get in 26 dives while I was there.

I remember this thread. I bought a gps shortly after reading it. Have only found 4 caches but they were all lots of fun. I just spend 4 months travelling in asia and have every major city marked.....not sure why, but they're marked. Great hobby. If you're interested, ebay is a great way to get into the sport.
