I ahve heard of this but am not familiar with it-how do you know that the "Buried Treasure" has not been found or taken already..?
What for example is the "Hidden Treasure"?
Do you replace it with something after the find..?

..I probablly won't take up Geocaching anytime soon. To each his own, though..

Pez de Diablo once bubbled...
in fact lots of areas use geocaching to organize "clean the park" days, cleaning more garbage up than will ever be created by geocaching.

Things like this go a long way toward defending your hobby. If y'all are really picking up as much or more trash than you're leaving, I've got no problem with it.

I have wanted to get into scuba diving for about 2 years now. It kept getting put on the backburner. The funny thing is that I got into geocaching first, and now it has rekindled my desire to get certified to dive. After I discovered a few caches listed as underwater / scuba / hydrocache / etc. I just had to hide one myself. The sport of geocaching and scuba are on a collision course. Inevitably, many scuba divers will want to get into geocaching. A lot of the current underwater geocaches are what are called multi-caches. The coordinates will take you to the entry point on the shore and give you a distance, bearing, and depth to the cache. These caches are generally rated 5 stars for terrain. – TheStosh

Old thread but since I'm still a geocacher I will reply.

The treasure is replaced. When you take something out of the container you are to replace that item with something of greater or equal value.

King Kahekili is the cache on Maui and it was a blast.

Geocaching rocks - I'm going tonight to find a few :)
