On our last trip one diver had an emergency at 60 feet. Luckily we were at a dive spot that had a dive shop on location. We will be returning and I was wondering if anyone bought a cheapo phone with minimal minutes to use in case of an emergency. If this had occurred at a remote location the end result would have been....well I dont even want to think about it. Thanks! Bill

You can get a pay as you go phone at digicell. There around 20-30 bucks. Just buy a prepaid phone card for 10 bucks and your set.

Just take your normal cell phone with you. The 'extra' $1 per call will seem like chump change if you're in an emergency. Mine lives in airplane mode when traveling outside of US

Good luck hiding it where the kids won't find it - or see you hide it...lol. I'd buy one of these and a cheap phone on-island instead:

Witz Electronic Cases and Protectors | Witz Waterproof Cases and Protective Cases for Canon Cameras, iPhones, and ID's

Although I have a similar but thinner case for cards/keys that has never leaked while diving, not sure I'd trust this case 100% under pressure since it's wider with the same o-ring setup. And they're not really dive cases, just for water protection on the surface. It does have a full embedded o-ring seal.

I've also read of people gutting a dive flashlight to carry their phone on dives.
