I want to rent a car in Cozumel. Arriving at the airport directly from the states and ideally would like to drop it off at the ferry port. Anyone have an idea.

Thanks
Gregg

I just got a deal from Less Pay Car Rental. lesspay_rentals@hotmail.com $36 a day with AC and ALL the insurance for a little car. I imagine they would drop you at the ferry. They told me I could either come to Hotel Barracuda to pick it up or call when I got to the house and they would pick me up. It will be the first time with them, but they come recommended.
I have rented from Executive, google Executive Cozumel. They rent at the airport and you can drop off about 2 blocks from the ferry. We did that once. They seem more expensive. Rented from them 3 time because I need a bigger vehicle for more people. They were nice to deal with and the vehicle were in decent shape.
rentadoraisis@prodigy.net.mx rentadora Isis is well rated around here. I checked them for May and they were 40 a day with ALL the insurance, so I am trying Less Pay.

Use Less Pay. Contact them through the internet and agree on a price. If you pay cash there is savings (credit cards are accepted, but bank fees are considerable and these fees are passed on to you) The price you get will cover all insurance and they will take you to the ferry. You will have to drive as the taxi companies are all powerful but you can be dropped off at the dock.

I am confused what you are needing. Are you asking about renting a car for a week, then dropping it off at ferry? Or flying in and just driving to ferry and dropping it off?

the airport isn't far from downtown, which is where the ferry is located.

We've been using a place called Gallo. They are in the strip mall in front of Chedraui. Given how tight the economy is there, they WILL dicker. Our last few rentals have been $30, all fees and insurance in. Nice cars; automatics.

There is no place at the ferry for car drop off but if the rental company won't drive you there, most have offices only a couple of blocks away. If you don't have a lot of luggage, you can walk or pay $2 for a cab.

Ditto for Less Pay. I have been using them for years and never had a problem. Almost all our residents in the condo rents from them as well and we even get long term rentals when we are going to be on the island for extended stays. They are located right next door (in the same building) to Hotel Barracuda. It is a 10 minute walk to the ferry pier. You can drop off your car back at Less Pay and hail a cab with luggage to the ferry pier for 300 pesos.

The little rental shop Gallo just started renting cars in the past year. (used to be all scooters and such) They don't have much of an inventory. I'd go with Less Pay. More experience, more inventory and easy to reach by email and internet. PLEASE do not opt out when it comes to the insurance. Have fun!

Hey Jen........300 pesos!!!!........maybe one zero too many?......haha..............Betsy

This is great info. yes I'm flying in and taking the ferry out...

Does anyone have car ideas at Playa Del Carmen - when we arrive there after Cozumel?
