Are you there any cheap(er) boat dives in the SF Bay area? Diver Dan's boat costs $85 a trip which is ok once but it adds up like crazy going every weekend. Perhaps aboard someone's private small boat? Two Stanford College students want to do more diving.

I went on the Silver Prince via the MBDC yesterday @$75 (http://www.montereyscubadiving.com/), which was a great trip. The cheapest charter I've seen is the Beach Hopper II @$65, which I haven't tried. The cheapest way to dive I think is by shore, where your costs are basically gas+air, and there are lots of sites in and around Monterey.

Yet another (new) Stanford student looking to go diving. Let me know at bhackett@stanford.edu if you're interested in joining up.

Diver Dan's doesn't have a boat. They were booking one
of the commercial boats. Prices for the same boat can
vary depending on who's booking it and how many dives.
So do your homework (should be easy if you got into
Stanford).

There's a link to a list of Monterey commercial dive boats
at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ba_diving/links

What ever became of the Stanford Dive Club? They
were quite active back in the days of dinosaurs but I couldn't
find any web presence for them a while back.
