After a couple of failed attempts last year we finally got some accurate coordinates, courtesy of Adventure Scuba (thanks) and hit up the Price this Sunday.
After we got blown out on Saturday afternoon (we dove the New York & AB Williams in the morning but had a couple of people feeding the fish!) I had three students on board checking out so we stopped at the Sport on the way out. Not only is it a nice, small, shallow wreck (@ 40' and perfect for skills etc) but it made sense historically too, given that it was a diver from this tug that identified the Price in 1913 when it was floating around turtled off of Port Huron.
I've been wanting to dive the Price for a while and I wasn't disappointed. I had a great dive with my students around the stern to see the huge prop (@ 50') and then jumped back in again with Tracey and Phil for what turned out to be my longest bottom time of the year! We swam the whole length of the hull and then had a little poke around inside the aft portion of the wreck towards the end of the dive.
I cobbled together some of the video myself and Wade shot for your viewing pleasure. I hope you like it:
Thanks to everyone who came out; I had a quality day.
We left an orange Tide bottle out as a marker so that we can go out again this coming weekend (and possibly the following one too!) and for anyone else who wants to go and check her out.
Cheers
Rick
