I actually tried that route, but didn't work out. This trip is handled by my local dive shop, and we are busing down. The shop down there said I would need to pick up the tank by 8pm, and we don't arrive until much later than that. Unfortunately.

ChrisM:
You can have tanks as good as waiting for you on the boat. Rent them from Truth Aquatics, the shop is 50 feet form the boats.

I rent the St 95s when I go on Truth boats

I am on the Vision departing Wed the 15th as well for a 3 day trip. I take it you are bringing a tank with you (probably rented from the shop that organized the trip?) so having a tank is not the issue and it is just the task of carrying it from the parking lot to the boat. That is nice that you all chartered a bus. We are going on our own so I'll be pulling up with a car load of empty coffee cups rolling around in the passenger floor area ;)

This is my first time with any of the Truth boats. I did two 3-day trips on the Horizon out of San Diego in the past - it has been some of the best diving I have done, including being at least as good if not better that my Fiji trip, but that is just me.

Reading this thread helped to remind me of some things to bring (like soap) that I don't normally have to think about when traveling for work. Also the ear plugs - glad I read that - I'm sure some people can really saw logs...then add in the gaging and gasping for air noises they make.

On the past two trips I was on I found that I was missing dives because I was sleeping so much...like almost missing breakfast and then napping in the afternoon.

Some additional info:
- Like a previous poster said, be prepared for sea sickness. I just got my prescription called in today for the scopolamine patches. If you aren't going go the prescription route, then bring enough Bonnine to take the max amount per day for the trip plus Wed morning so you get it in your system before you leave. The boat travels at night, so that means motion while you are down below.

- You can bring a cooler with beer, etc. Apparently they park the coolers together outside in the rear of the boat, so they said use the most compact cooler you can to do the job.

- If you are not bringing weights, then I believe you need to call and make arrangements to rent them (?)

- I am a coffee snob, so I am packing my French press and Peets coffee.

- I think it wouldn't be a bad idea to have a safety sausage - I dunno if they sometimes use a skiff to pick people up when there are currents - they did on the Horizon.
