Congrats. Be sure to check out the Texas Swamp Diver forum so you can meet some dive buddies and do some more green water diving. Doing some low vis dives will certainly help you appreciate blue water when you do go.

Wow, sounds like my last trip to CSSP. Congrats on your OW. It can only be better from now. Look forward to seeing you in the Carribbean.

YOU GO LadyV!
Many congratulations on your OW..and how super to have WAR stories already!!!!!! I guess if you couldn't see very far perhaps the perch can be excused for mistaking an ear fro a nice bit of dinner!?!?!
Were you not wearing a hood? Guess not if he could get to your ear - a 'maybe' for your next dives if you're still sorta wigged out about the attack - I think I'd be! Heck, my class finished our OW in the Puget Sound at Keystone Underwater Park in Washington State - we were diving a really great wall and my dive buddy swished her fin at a big old fish - looked like a rock fish of some sort - and he just moved a foot or so, settled again, looked up at us and BARED HIS TEETH!!! Boy! Was that a shocker! Both of us (and maybe him, too) were supremely weirded out, so the bite must have been a real corker!
I was pretty odd feeling and sort of 'out of it' for a while after my OW - but keep on top of this - if you're still having issues tomorrow, check with a medical pro. Stranger things have happened than an inner ear thingy. Don't freak, but don't let it go too long - and if you get feverish or really dizzy get thee hence to a medico pronto!
And DON'T LET THIS stop you from going back in - we all have issues to conquer. You're among the brave, the true, the real, the perennially damp - you're a scuba diver.
