The only way you're ever getting me there again is in a boat. Maybe even a cruise liner. I hate Dual Wrecks! Unless you are a mountain climber, a world class swimmer and a diplomat you don't want to dive here!!! This is Navy Seal training disguised as shore diving.

At least you can drink beer in the McDonalds parking lot, though ;)
Or maybe just try it on a day when..."THOSE WAVES REALLY AREN'T THAT BIG!!!"

Tides can be really strong at the bridge. We accidentally got in at the wrong time one day. Copied the times from the wrong day...DUH!!!...and we went for a nice little ride and had to old onto one of the docks for a few minutes.

But around slack...at least the times I've been there, current hasn't been very strong except right at the bridge, and if you hit it at slack it is still enough that you can actually swim between the pilings.

I'm sure, depending on the day, you could get in about 1 hr before slack and get a BIG fat 2 hour dive in.

The only way to do both the RR bridge and Shark River would be at L street beach, the river is wide enough there that current is not a problem but I find that beach boring and only use it for equipment checks and the clean-up dive when we can dive in the fishing area.
Shark River does have some no diving areas, all diving is East of the A street entry and Memorial day till Labor Day it's dusk till dawn and because of the boat traffic you will want a flag. BTW, don't put a strobe on it but it is nice to know the coasties are paying attention!

Thanks for the advice. We'll definitely check out the bridge on the 13th. We'll figure something out for the 14th...either repeat the bridge or maybe try Shark River.
