Hi OFWF!
Preemptive Diving is organizing a Beach Cleanup at Centennial Park in Barrie, starting in front of the Wreck of the Morrison on Saturday, October 28, 2006 and extending North and South as we get more divers.
This is a City of Barrie permitted event. We will be getting started at 10:00 am and break for lunch, get back in the water, dive until 3:00pm. The area, including any debris from the waters (which will be logged) and any garbage from our lunch, must be cleared by 4:00pm. Thank you.
The row of parking spots facing the water at the lot will be kept free for participants. Registration of divers is requested, and of course, safe diving procedures such as the buddy system and having equipment appropriate for the task at hand, will be required.
Co-sponsoring dive shops or clubs are welcome if you supply some equipment or service that will help us. However, let me know ASAP because a flyer is being prepared soon.
We expect to be able to offer coffee and bottled water free. Food must be limited to your own food. No propane BBQ's.
In the interest of full disclosure, please note I am running for Barrie City Councillor in the November elections. However, campaigning is not going to occur at this event.
The objective of this event is three fold: clean up the waters, promote awareness of scuba divers for our safety and have a safe dive day, and three: get wet and have Fun!
Please email me to preregister and also for a flyer!
Regards,
Chris Damas
