We had actually censored their URLs at one time, but found it created more controversy and discussion about what WE were trying to hide.

Tilden's Scuba Center and Dive Duck Key are my two favorite dive operations in the Keys- PERIOD! Sally, Tilden, and their crew are everything that is right with Keys diving. We keep going back to them for a reason- they are that good.

In addition....

Joe and Wendy of Dive Duck Key are awesome. I have been underwater with almost every operation between Key Largo and the 7 Mile Bridge. Of all the instructors I have met, Wendy is at the top of my list. If I had kids, she is who I would want to teach them to dive. That is no exaggeration- I would trust, without hesitation, Joe and Wendy to train and/or supervise my brother, father and mother.

I saddens and angers me that either operation is represented as anything but ethical, safe, and caring about their clients.

agreed, both operations are top notch

I actually miss the good old days of censoring out C D N N's website. I constantly hear new divers on sites refering back to articles "published" by them.

That site seems to be used by a single person for person attacks against various well know divers and groups. Leigh Bishop, and treasure hunters seem to get attacked the most.

As for the "advertising revenue", none could be found. When the CD NN brewhaha flared up a year or two ago, people actually started contacting the "advertisers" to express thier dislike of support for that site. I think every major company listed had no idea who C DNN was or had never paid for any advertising. They are being used to give legitimicy to this sham of a website. Apparently, they have been sued a number times, but they just re-appear on another webdomain.

My name is Sally Billiter and my husband Tilden and I own Tilden's Scuba Center in Marathon, Florida.

CDNN posted an article about the unfortunate death of a diver in the Keys, an accident which happened about a week ago. Not only did the site completely over dramatize this whole sad situation, but it also said it happened at Tilden's Scuba Center. It did not. We sold one of our two shops nearly a year ago, which has since been renamed, and it was that location that had the accident.

The other shop was not at fault in any way, but regardless, I wanted to clear that up as our dive shop has had ZERO major incidences in the decades we've been here.

Our shop, and the one that had the accident, are extremely safety conscious, to which our many divers can attest.

Diver deaths are sad enough without a website taking advantage of them to write an extremely exaggerated story.

Maybe you ought to have your lawyer give them a call.

I have no patience for nuisance lawsuits but in this case they could easily cause your business serious financial harm.

I am not a lawyer and I don't even live in Florida. :)

Maybe you ought to have your lawyer give them a call.
It's not possible. They have hidden their identity incredibly well.

If you google CDNN and Tildens, you will find that this brand new thread ranks just behind it. It should overtake it in a day or two.

I hope you don't mind. I just added the location to the thread title to help a little in searches. 8-)

I'll be seeing the people at Tilden's when I'm down at the end of the month! Plan on getting my fills there! (Nitrox cards are CHEAP!)

Hopefully they have a tent sale like last year! I picked up a couple cool t-shirts!

What kind of tents you got?

Re CDNN - vote passively. On sites like "Web of Trust" mark them down as 'unsafe'.
