Looking at the first week of June...

Hi Tuolumne County resident (I lived there for 14 years—as you may remember):

We have booked a trip for the second week of June. We carried it over from a previously booked trip from last December. We are chomping at the bit wanting to dive Lagun west-punt with Go West.

So what am I missing?

No John, what am I missing? I don't get it, either.

Ohhhhh, this is such BS

Agreed!

My biggest concern though is with going through an airport in NYC and going through the customs and immigration there.

Hi tkaelin,

We are flying through MIA and not NYC. For this convo they are one in the same thing.

My wife and I spent 2020 travelling up and down the East Coast of the USA. From diving in Key Largo with SBers to vacationing in the UP of Michigan for a month. We were in Georgia three times, and Tennessee four times. And the lovely and gracious Florida twice.

We chose to slim down (I lost 17 pounds [I am now 6' and 175 pounds]), and to exercise almost daily. I run. We ride bikes up to 40 miles a day and walk between 4 and 8 miles a day (we alternate—not all regimes in one day).

The data is clear and undeniable. Obesity and morbid obesity is the number one comorbidity. Healthy people do much better. They still get sick, but USUALLY, they don't end-up being intubated, or even in the hospital.

Life is a gamble; I am gambling on good health to ease my suffering. I drive a school bus filled with little barfing petri dishes, and we, as a school district, have done very well. We have had very few Covid 19 cases and nobody was hospitalized. We have been open for in-person instruction all school year. I enjoy my bus riders—I would not avoid them for any disease. Even the PITA ones. They are all fun kids. I am so grateful that their parents grant me custody of their kids for, in some cases, close to two hours per day (yes, I cover a lot of territory in my four routes).

I am ready for this disease and plan on fighting it when it comes my way (if it hasn't already). I may have to get the experimental mRNA jab. I am hoping for the J & J version. My wife has 1 of 2 jabs of the Pfizer experimental vaccine.

I am not going to forfeit my life in fear of a disease that does not seriously affect of my age group (when combined with my physical fitness level).

The CDC needs to further explain their rationale.

Some of my dearly loved rotund friends got Covid. The Hamilton County Health Department and Warren County Health Department told them, (they live in different counties) to NOT go to a doctor as they will probably recover in several days. And they did. They have the number one comorbidity and were ordered to not seek medical attention? Are you kidding me? They are all about 65 Y.O. Another one is about 40.

I will buy instant test kits. I will take multiple PCR tests on Curacao. I will do whatever I have to do. I will get jabbed with the experimental mRNA vaccine.

I AM DAYDREAMING OF THE WEST END! (Yes, I am yelling!)

...4,218,000
0.0026% * 4,218,000 = 108 cases/day.

Oregon will probably see 100 cases or more per day going forward forever. SARS-Cov-2 is not going away, mRNA jab or not. We still have the Spanish flu and swine flu.

I am not looking forward to another F-bombed year's worth of the fear-porn with Karens to the the right of me and Karen's to the left of me.

I apologize for the rant—rant button now off!

cheers,
markm
IF YOU HAVE A COMORBIDITY, STAY HOME! MUZZLE-UP AND ADD A FACE SHEILD. TELL ME TO STAY MORE THAN SIX FEET FROM YOU IF YOU ARE SCARED. I WILL GRACIOUSLY COMPLY!

As of now we are working on June 1 through 10, don’t know if the whole group is able to make it but I’ll be vaccinated and ready for some warm water...

We depart on the 14th. We have some overlap. We arrive on the 6th and are staying at All West Apartments (thanks to tkaelin's advice).

Will you dive the West End? Will you boat dive with Go West?

cheers,
m

Rarely boat dive but you never know, usually stay at a vrbo, looking into the credit from the one we had to cancel last April, near Jan Thiel. We’ll have a car/truck and all you can use tanks from dive bus so we travel to wherever the diving is good.

But will you consent to the anal test? ;) (I joke - as I also pray it never makes it to the US! or Curacao!)

Of course I thought of "Stuck in the middle with you" - and our dive buddies - that's ok! :)

But will you consent to the anal test? (I joke - as I also pray it never makes it to the US! or Curacao!)

Anal test by an NP (or equal), or MD? Depending on the situation and clinical facility, that is a firm maybe. Production line anal test at an airport? No way.

We are almost the exact same age you know. Bob Dylan was popular when we were kids!

So glad that China isn't a popular dive destination for us here in the US!!!

The anal swabs are what you get stuck with after you run out of nasal swabs or qualified personnel to collect nasal swabs. There are occasional CSF leaks when the nasal swabs are collected too aggressively.
