Family Cruise on Liberty outa Miami, 4 ports of call:

10/2 Half Moon Cay, Bahamas - I see they may offer a one tank dive $69.00 (15' fsw) and snorlkeling $49.00 from the same boat from what I see on Holland Americas web site. Nothing on Carnival's site about scuba. Anyone tried these? sound like a waste?

10/4 St. Thomas $109.99 2 tank dive Carnival's dive operator is who, any experiences, comments? (use to be underwater safari who was slammed here on the board)

10/5 San Juan, Anyone done things interesting here, suggestions?

10/6 Gran Turk 2 tank dive $119.99 oasis divers Grand Turk ??

Thanks for any input

BTW after 7 years I needed a new complex bifocal Rx mask, kept finding all kinds but all near $400, found a guy $228 shipped back to me after I send him my new mask for fit up, not bad but call em direct as he will give you a better price than his son that answers the e-mail, see the telephone number on rxdivemask.com

Thanks again
Dan

No problem. When you spend nearly 3 years straight on a ship, you learn things. :-).
Enjoy your cruise

Well we are now about 90 days out from this adventure, and a lot of the leg work is done.
We will stay about two blocks from the airport the night before our flights, nd it includes parking and shuttle to and from airport. DONE
$400.00 for two people round trip from chicago to Fort Lauderdale DONE
Hotel in Miami beach for two days before the cruise,..Humm wonder if I could get a good dive in on that friday morning September 30 in say biscane bay,..hummmm,...whos the good one to contact?
Got out HC placard current for parking at POM DONE

Just have to finalize the diving plans, check out all the gear, my Dr. signed my release two weeks ago,..asthmatic....

Starting to get excited,...trying to find a good deal also on a little heaver jumpsuit, last year at cayman, and coz I got a little cold in my deepsea 3/2 Just dont know if a 5mm will be to much for 78 - 79 deg and my old bones

:D

We got back from the itinerary on the Liberty in early June and it was great! We did dives in St. Thomas and Grand Turk.... but we just did the ships excurions.... If I had it to do over again I would go with an independent operator in St. Thomas and stick with Oasis in Grand Turk. St. Thomas was so so and a nice warm up dive, but ehhhh and I think it was Underwater Safari. I actually think the place had two names.... but, seriously, you are going to LOVE your dive in Grand Turk.

Carnival didn't offer a SCUBA excursion in HMC, and we tried snorkeling from the shore but there was very little to see, and what was there was white set off of white sand.

Hey.. on another note... San Juan. We walked. We started early from the ship, walked around old San Juan. Did some shopping. Visited Castillo San Cristobal.. and really had a great day. I was no looking forward to San Juan, and I left thinking I could totally do a land vacation there (with some traveling to dive, because the water there is DISGUSTING)...

Bon Voyage!!! Have a great time!!! We are booking Western on the Liberty (again) in Decemeber... trying to figure out what two ports to dive....

WE are hitting St Thomas in December and Looked at Blue Island divers as well as
aqua marines - let me know how BID is if that is what you do? Scubaadvisor has given aqua marines a high rating.
