Maybe this is an older posting but it makes it seem that insurance is mandatory. Medical Insurance Requirements

"All visitors should ensure they have suitable travel and medical insurance. You should ensure that COVID-19 is not an exclusion to the existing policies.

Insurance is required to ensure that you are adequately covered in the event you develop symptoms during your stay in the Cayman Islands and need to seek treatment at a local healthcare facility. You should ensure that your coverage covers all COVID-19 related and associated medical costs and quarantine.

Visitors are fully responsible for the cost of quarantine in the event they test positive during their stay."

But under the FAQ Section they say what you said:

"All travellers will be required to attest to a statement which confirms that they have medical insurance which includes COVID-19 coverage, or that they understand the financial risks they are taking and that they have independent means to cover their medical costs, inclusive of extended accommodations. For more information, click here and scroll down to the “Travel/COVID-19 Insurance” section."

We've been back and forth three times since covid hit and we do not have any special travel or covid insurance except for medical emergencies. No problem.

Excellent - we are looking for August flights to Grand Cayman. Haven't been there since August 2019 and look forward to going back and diving with Sergio and crew at Don Fosters.

This is just a SWAG based on my limited interaction with the Cayman government. I believe that when this started, they didn’t want to get stuck with the cost of caring for a bunch of sick tourists that were stuck here on the island and unable to return to their home country. With the lifting of a re-entry requirement in most places, this is not really a problem anymore. As @mi000ke states it is not really an issue, so don’t worry and make your plans. Everyone is hoping the government will loosen some of the restrictions this Friday, so we shall see. “Soon Come” as they say down here. Be safe

I thought the travel declaration certificate was good for 3 months. The certificate I applied and received today says good until September 25. Do you have a link to the 72 hour rule?

I worded it slightly incorrectly, sorry. This is from the Travel Cayman website: (btw we just got back from cayman last week and our travel dec was good for 3 months.):

All travellers are required to apply on the Travel Cayman Portal and will be issued with a travel certificate which is required for entry.

Unvaccinated travellers are required to apply no less than 5 days prior to departing for the Islands.

Vaccinated travellers are required to apply no less than 72 hours prior to departing for the Islands
