Good idea to take a test run in the afternoon. How deep is the dive? Is there generally a mild or strong current over by Turtle Reef?

The bottom of the mini wall is around 55 feet deep. You need to go a long way across the sand flats to get any deeper than that.Top of the mini wall is around 25 feet.

Most of the time there is no current.Sometimes there is.Have never come across a current I could not swim against. Does not seem to be related to/caused by anything in particular.

This is actually a very good site for a first dive on your own.The worst that can happen with navigation is that you dont surface at the put in point and have a bit of a surface swim which is no big deal.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks! I'm in!
