Cayman dive recommendations

Hey all.
Forgive me if this is not the correct forum.
I'm thinking of hopping over to Cayman for a dive weekend and as I have never been there before, I wanted to know if you guys could give me some hotels/dive ops recommendations for me to check.
Maybe hotels that have good packages?

You will probably have better luck with this in the dive travel section and I'm sure if you do a search on Cayman dive ops and hotels you will find a wealth of information.

Which island in the Caymans are you thinking about visiting? I dived w/ Off The Wall Divers in Grand Cayman last December and had a great time. www.otwdivers.com

Oh, didn't look for a travel sections. Just figured I would ask here since I would want to go with somewhere that would be photo-friendly.
As to where, I'm pretty open to suggestions.

We did Sunset House. It's not fancy, but the packages are good, the food is good, it's walking distance from Georgetown and along with the boat dives, you can shore dive as much as you want, and the shore's not bad. It's also a short walk from the shore diving areas closer to town like Eden Rock (Devil's Gorge). Only down side was, their boats stay on the West side. If you want to see bigger stuff, I hear you need to go to the east (windward) side where the water is rougher and there's more current.

PS You can also get photo classes there and rentals, as Cathy Church's shop is right in the compound.

If you want the chance of bigger stuff, head for Ocean Frontiers at the East End. I saw a nine-foot hammerhead on my last dive with them in summer, and have seen reefers on virtually every dive with them. Much better marine life/walls/coral down that end too.

Hi

I have dove may of the Cayman dive sites and with several of the operators. Divetech, Sunset and Don Fosters have all been good to dive with. Most dive boats will take you on a 100 ft first dive and a 40-60 ft second dive.

Most operator are around $80 US for a 2 tank morning boat dive. Ocean Frontiers is more expensive at around $109 US. I have been told they are also for more advanced divers.

Divetech dives mostly the North and West walls. Sunset and Don Fosters dive the West and South Walls.

I have even spent 2 weeks just doing shore dives with my wife. 22 dives in 2 weeks. We had a great time and saw many things, including spotted and green morays, turltes, tarpon, barracuda, octopus, sting rays, cleaner shrimp, arrow crabs and all three types of anglefish. All without goijng deeper than 70 feet. These were all seen at Eden Rock, Turtle Farm Reef, Sunset and Spanish Bay.

The only section of the island I haven't dove is the east end. That is my next trip.
Sorry can't help you about hotels since I am very lucky and can stay at a relatives house.

Overall the diving is great if you like 80°F water and 100 foot visability.
