Anyone know how much time I should allow for a connection between Cayman Air and American Airlines? My AA flight from GCM leaves at 410PM. Cayman Air has flights from Little Cayman to GCM at 850AM, 1020AM with a stop in Cayman Brac, or 210PM. The 210PM flight arrives GCM 245PM. is 1 hour 25 min enough to deplane, collect bags, check in at AA, and get through security?

When are you traveling? It should be enough time, but it is a gamble. The flight from LYB might be delayed (often!), and your bag(s) might not get loaded and have to wait for the next flight. Baggage handing can be slow, check-ins can be long. I'd take the earlier flight from LYB....but I do not like to live dangerously.

Traveling from LYB on November 22 2025

thanks

1:25 on a sat seems tight. I wouldn’t want to risk it. We are taking the the 8:50 for a 12:45 flight and that will be on a Friday.

You have non-stops at 0850 (KX4421) and 1410 (KX4723), and via Cayman Brac at 1020 (KX4422). I'd skip all the possible connections with plane changes at 0750 and 1020. For me, KX4723 is a gamble. I'd go for 4421 or 4422.
Nov 22 is the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Not a good travel day.

thanks for confirming what i already knew, but didn't want to admit. we booked the 1020 flight.

I was in Owen Roberts Airport on a Saturday afternoon a few weeks ago and the line to clear security took 2 hours. What a zoo.

Heard about and see that to many times. We do everything possible not to travel on a Saturday.

After checking your bags at GCM for your AA flight, consider taking the free shuttle over to the George Town Yacht Club for lunch and to kill an hour or two. You can catch it outside the airport terminal door closest to the rental car lot (you'll see a sign there...or ask one of the porters). It's less than a 5 minute ride. The shuttle picks up on a semi-regular basis (though I did have to call on one occasion).

Hanging out at GTYC is much more comfortable than the airport (pre- or post-security) and the food beats anything the airport offers (basically Wendy's and Subway).

At the end of my stay on Grand Cayman last week, I took the shuttle to GTYC on Saturday at about noon after dropping off my rental car and checking in for my flight home. At that time, the security line filled the entire back-and-forth roped lanes (though I don't know what that translates to time wise).

My UA flight departed at 4:15 so I shuttled back to GCM at about 2:15...there was only about 6 people in the security line at that point...5 minutes. When I take that ~4pm Saturday flight (4 times in the last 15 months), I have found that the security line is empty or virtually empty by the time I need to get in it (but I still give myself a little more than an hour before boarding just in case). YMMV.

PS. When we go to Little Cayman and have to deal with connections, we fly on Tuesdays because we've seen (and lived!) the same issues described by @tursiops, @Doctorfish, and @tkaelin.
