Just another cave training story, enjoy:

I close my eyes, push back all the thoughts that want to come out and clear my mind and suddenly feel warm and comfortable, like the cave just wrapped me in a soft sensual hug. I can feel Yolly's hand grabbing my elbow, the guideline locked in my right hand and the noise of my own bubbles. My breathing is slow again, and so is my heartbeat.

That is it!
Sometimes we can visualize more with our eye's closed than with them open.
Your thoughts were mine not so long ago in the up the peanut line in Peacock during INTRO class.
I find myself doing that dive in my dreams as it was on of the most peaceful dives for me yet.
Another was a shared dive with a first time buddy on the same line.
We shut our light out at the sign and just hovered taking in the ambient light as it cascaded into the cavern.
Never enjoyed silent moments any more that that!

How do you know you are hooked or bitten by the cave bug?
Stick a fork in it,you are done!
See you in Cave Country!
We always attend REACT look me up.
Ask Linda at Cave Excursions to point Cam out!
Love to meet fellow cave addicts!

Nicely written!

I found your description of your reaction to the dark interesting. I had issues with orientation in the dark, but the darkness itself never bothered me.

Amen!

Luca,

Thanks for the write-up. I know that when I really want to concentrate and focus on something, I close my eyes. Even though I haven't had the experience yet (I took Cavern last week), your description was skillful enough that I think that I could feel your feelings.

Very well written story! Welcome to the dark side!

Thanks everybody for your feedback.

Thanks.

Darkness does not bother me either, but we were both very anxious about buoyancy in the dark. A long pitch of line with no bottom or ceiling is hard, you can yank the line out place in no time. It didn't happen, and it felt great, but this is a skill I need to practice again.

8 weeks to Mexico!! yay

Great write up! Thanks for taking the time to put it down.

I can't wait to experience that feeling. I signed up with Jim Wyatt last week for a fall cavern class followed up with Intro to Cave.:D I am an old dry caver and have always loved caves.
