There was an article by Alex Santos(IANTD, Philippines) on a cave system in El Nido published on Asian Divers yrs ago.
Ralph Joerger(Tech Asia in PG) also described a cave system in Cebu published on Philippines Divers yrs ago.
There is a cave in Maricaban Island. A narrow tunnel down from a cavern at around 45m to around 60m.
Saw it on the you tube about a cave dive to 90m in Mindanao last yr.

Hi Mike,

There's likely to be a lot of diveble caves out there in Luzon but the problem is they're not so easy to find and we don't know where they all are yet :)

The typography of Luzon is suited to caves in some parts, although the only place we've had success in finding some good leads is in Pangasinan, around 4-5 hours drive north of Manila. We've checked out a few sites around Bulacan and Baik Na Bato but not really found anything worth following-up on yet.

There are a lot of caves in the Visayas region, Samar in particular, however these caves are not easy to get to and require expedition planning as the logistics normally require several hours of jungle trekking and a lot of help in moving equipment!

The best known cave is the Pawod cave in Agos, Cebu (near Maribago). This a a great cave to check out and with very easy logistics and entry, although there is a good length tunnel and further chambers for more advanced divers (sidemount is more suitable for the tunnel and essential for getting past the last chamber). The Hinatuan Enchanted River in Mindano has a deep cave chamber as Centrals mentioned, although the main chamber of this cave is at 40m with the tunnel leading down to almost 90m - I've not been to this one yet but hopefully we'll get there soon!

The El Nido cave looks very promising, there's plenty on you tube for this. This seems to be a dissolution cave which is now joined to the sea. This is another one we're hoping to check out this year, you need to get someone who know the site as the entry to this cave is said to be very hard to spot unless you know it's there!

In the Philippines the best person to contact is Tom at Divers Network, as Andy mentioned - the Divers Network link is at the top of the Philippines Forum pages too. Just remember Cave diving needs the correct training and should not be attempted without this, almost all cave diving related deaths are down to untrained divers or those exceeding their training!
