Honestly I do like the new 2/9ths gas rule. Makes much more sense having something which scales to the size and pressure of the tanks vs. the old 500psi I was taught.

Me too, and I'm guessing I'd like it even more with steel tanks.
500 psi is just so arbitrary given the range of fill-pressures.

I have to admit though its not easy for me to recalc UW (now compared to before)

Maybe someone can make you an U/W spreadsheet ?
Then you can just type in the numbers...

kinda like this?

starting pen frac 1/frac
3500 psi - 800 psi - 0.22 - 4.37 [*]
3400 psi - 700 psi - 0.20 - 4.85

1800 psi - 400 psi - 0.22 - 4.50
1700 psi - 400 psi - 0.23 - 4.25 [*]

1500 psi - 300 psi - 0.20 - 5.00
1400 psi - 300 psi - 0.21 - 4.66
1300 psi - 300 psi - 0.23 - 4.33 ( lowest starting for LP104s)

i'm interested in having ppl trained in 2/9ths double check particularly the 2600 psi number...

2600/3 (round down to 2400) = 800
2600-800 = 1800
1800/3 = 600 available

your reserve on this dive would be 600 + 800 = 1400 or >2x your 600 psi penetration. Seems reasonable to me.

Aren't all C1 divers trained in 2/9 ??? After all, this is the way it's always been, right ?
Anyone doing anything else must have just "misunderstood" previous teachings.

Yes you slept through that part of class. Just like you did with the MODs for 30/30 and 21/35.

goddness, I feel so dumb ... what else did I miss while I was off in cuckoo land ?

Cuckoo land? I heard you were off chanting secret ratio deco rites in some smokey bar...
