No kidding!

Here's an idea......let's just all go to Cozumel, dive and have a great time :)

Great Idea, some people spend more time praising or dissing scuba operators in Coz than they spend diving. Everyone has their favorites, same reason we all drive different vehicles.

BTW, when are we all leaving for Coz?

To paraphrase the infamous Rodney King:

Can't we all just get a-long . . . drift dive in Cozumel

Yea, Finn59 !!

I responded to this thread because I read "Caution About Cozumel" as if something was drastically wrong with Cozumel. Like a Dept. of State caution. Or caution about Mexican border area below the US. Turned out it was only one diver that had what he precieved was a bad experience and DP gave the couple a free week to make up for it.

Fast and slow are relative. Tango was plenty fast enough for me (No I wasn't part of a group). Like another diver posted - I'm just happy to be away from work and diving. I've had a good time no matter where I've been - guess it's a personal attitude. Whether it's the St. Lawrence, Bonair, or any other diving destination (including the local quarry), I'm happy diving, seeing stuff and meeting new people.

I'm sorry PilotFish that you found it necessary to dispariage me

I live in rural VA and many people have moved out here and drive very fast on country roads. When I ask them why have they moved her, they usually say for the slower pace of life. I say - then slow down. Vacation, Relax, Eat, Sleep, Dive what a concept.

Again thanks Finn59 ==> Here's an idea......let's just all go to Cozumel, dive and have a great time

Sorry NAIBdiver if you thought I was disparing you. I was not. I was simply pointing out that if you thought the Tango was a fast boat you might not know what a fast boat is -6 pack or 8 pack. If you are saying that the Tango was fast enough for you, that is something different. You managed to have a good time and get some dives in dispite not being able to get to the better sites further south. That's fine but those of us that dive often and have been to Coz a few times want to dive the better sites further south and slow boats like Dive Paradise runs don't get you there.

Yes, Coz has great diving but most of the boats that Dive Paradise runs will not get you to the better dive sites.

"not get you to the better dive sites." ???

I thought Columbia, Palancar, Paso del Cedro, Santa Rosa, were pretty good sites and had we wanted to go further south all we had to do was vote and make our desires know. We were on every site that we wanted to be on.

I think each and every dive operator on Cozumel intention is to give their customers a good time.

Those are pretty good sites, but how long it takes to get to the southern sites depends on where you start from. I've dove with Dive Paradise and Aqua Safari when I've been there, and typically we start just a little south of San Miguel where we stayed, and a trip to Punta Sur was over an hour.

Columbia Deep is a good site. Which Palancar did you dive? I was totally unimpressed with what they told us was Santa Rosa Wall, which leads me to believe that they took us someplace else but told us it was Santa Rosa Wall. That is another reason I would not dive with them again. I mentioned to someone who lives and works on the island that I thought Santa Rosa was ho hum and they said, what did I think of the 3 swim thrus on that wall. I said, there were no swim thrus. They said, then you did not dive Santa Rosa Wall.

Anyway, if you were satified with your diving with DP then that is great. Did you do 2 or 3 dives a day? Where did you do the 3rd dive of the day?

"they told us was Santa Rosa Wall" Our dive guide book said this was a must because of the swim throughs. If I went down there and there were no swim throughs - I believe I would have mentioned it to someone and had that rectified straight away. Taking a guide book and reading about where you're going to dive is something we always do before actually choosing and diving the site.

Santa Rosa was a great site and we really enjoyed the swim throughs. This was the 1st dive of our 3rd day - about 90 feet or so.

"Which Palancar did you dive?" Caves, Gardens, Horseshoe

" Did you do 2 or 3 dives a day?" 3 dives for 4 days, 2 dives on the other.

"Where did you do the 3rd dive of the day?" Our afternoon (3rd dive) was by far our most favorite. More animals as it was getting close to dusk. (we were there in December). Saw lots of turtles on both Paradise reef and Las Palmas.

We also enjoyed very much the little shore dive at Hotel Cozumel every night. No reefs and not spectacular, but I got the best video of Caribbean Octopus (3 large ones) and over an hour fifteen bottom time. Lots of nice subjects to video. And like I said earlier - as long as I'm diving. I'm happy

To bad I can't add a little video clip (attached jpegs are from video of Santa Rosa)

I believe that answeres all your questions and I think I'll stop flogging that poor old horse

Safe and happy diving

Did not look at a guide book on dive sites prior to dive. That really doesn't make too much difference though, since you expect that if a Dive Op tells you this is a certain site it should be that site. I think you would agree with that? There is no excuse for that. Again, that is one reason I will not dive with them again.

Palancar Horseshoe is an excellent site. I enjoyed that site very much. Got to see an eagle ray there too. real cool. I thought Palancar Gardens and Las Plamas, as well as Villa Blanca, are not worth seeing 2 to 3 times in a week, as we did each day for 3rd dive. That is just my opinion. The shore dive in front was OK and a good night dive I've heard.

jpegs are cool. Thanks. That's fiurther proof we did not do Santa Rosa.

Not beating an horse at all. Just responding to you. You can drop it and that would be fine. I think Dive Paradise is not a great Dive Op and you like them. Just different tastes. No biggy.
