Considering I got so much help on the last request, I thought I would get everyones take on the caribbean islands. I have a Mexico, and Central/South America Region - SOOOO I left out places like Cozumel and Belize (smart/not smart?).

Anyhow here is my list so far:

Caribbean Islands:
Anguilla
Antigua and Barbuda
Aruba
Bahamas
* Abaco
* Andros
* Bimini
* Cat Island
* Eleuthera
* Exuma
* Grand Bahama Island
* Long Island
* New Providence
* Paradise Island
* San Salvador
Barbados
Bermuda
British Virgin Islands
* Tortola
* Virgin Gorda
Cayman Islands
* Grand Cayman
* Little Cayman
* Cayman Brac
Cuba
Dominica
Dominican Republic
Grenada
Guadeloupe
* St. Barthelemy
Haiti
Jamaica
Martinique
Montserrat
Netherlands Antilles
* Bonaire
* Curacao
* Saba
* Sint Maarten/St. Martin
* St. Eustatius
Puerto Rico
Saint Kitts and Nevis
Saint Lucia
Saint Vincent and The Grenadines
* Bequia
Trinidad and Tobago
Turks and Caicos Islands
* Grand Turk
* Providenciales
U.S. Virgin Islands
* St. Croix
* St. John
* St. Thomas

See any mistakes? I stole a lot from the Yahoo! guide online, but I noticed that their categoriztion is not always complete or accurate.

If there are any major islands that I missed, please let me know! To recap, I am making an online database of hotels and Dive ops. So if an island is relatively uninhabited, I don't need it in this list :)

Thanks Again!

The Bahamas aren't really in the Caribbean, but that's no big deal.

Bermuda definitely isn't, though.

Don't forget to add in Los Roques and Isla Margarita.

I guess I should have been more specific as to what my Regions are (currently)

1. Caribbean Islands
2. United States
3. Mexico
4. Central & South America
5. Canada
6. Europe
7. Indian Ocean and Red Sea
8. Pacific
9. Asia

This really ignores the atlantic altogether - but are there really prominent dive locations that I should make a Atlantic Region, and add Bermuda, and the Bahamas?

Since I'm recommending so many changes, I'll just make them to your list rather than spell them out:

Anguilla
Antigua and Barbuda
Bahamas
* Abacos
** Green Turtle Cay
** Walker's Cay
Andros
*Berry Islands
** Chubb Cay
* Bimini
* Cat Island
* Crooked Island
* Eleuthera
** Marsh Harbour
* Exuma
* Grand Bahama Island
* Long Island
* New Providence
** Paradise Island
* San Salvador
Barbados
Bermuda
British Virgin Islands
* Tortola
* Virgin Gorda
* Jost Van Dyke
Cayman Islands
* Grand Cayman
* Little Cayman
* Cayman Brac
Cuba
Dominica
Dominican Republic
Grenada
* Carriacou
Guadeloupe
* St. Barthelemy
Haiti
Jamaica
Martinique
Montserrat
Netherlands Antilles
* Aruba

* Curacao
* Saba
* Sint Maarten/St. Martin
* St. Eustatius

* Vieques
Saint Kitts and Nevis
Saint Lucia
Saint Vincent and The Grenadines

DiverBuoy,

I am building a website (www.scubaaddict.com) that will be geared toward providing information and tips to scuba divers. <<<<Please no flaming>>>;-0

I am currently working on building a database to assist in locating hotels and dive operations around the world. This will be a 'sort of' online directory for these types of businesses, as well as provide a searchable database of reviews. The site will hopefully encompass much more (ie. Articles, tips, gear reviews, forum to discuss 'writen reviews', in addition to the directory - or 'yellow pages'.)

The idea is to break down the world into regions, then get more specific in two further levels, as a means for categorizing the content that is provided by those who are interested in writing reviews/articles.

I am not a scuba 'guru', but it is my passion. I tend to build sites around what I like to do :D Since I am not a guru, I thought many people here would have more 'specific' information as to the appropriate categorization based on regions. As it turns out, I was right :D

Doc - wow! Give me a few hours to process :) Thank you.

I guess as I go along, and consider adding an 'Atlantic Region', is there other areas that should be considered other then Bermuda as a hot diving locale in the Atlantic?

Hoover - I will look into those as well - thanks!

Metridium - I will look into those as well. Thank you.

Haven't dived there, but I believe Bermuda diving would have more in common with the Azores and Canary Islands than the Caribbean. Not sure if there's diving on Madeira or the Cape Verde Islands.

Oh, you might consider Brazil's Fernando da Noronha Islands, too.

De nada.

Aside from Roatan, Utila, Guanaja and Barbareta that is....

Quick question, if you had these regions to choose from (say if you were looking for a hotel):

Caribbean Islands
or
Central & South America

Which would you choose if you wanted to find Roatan, Utila, and Guanaja?

If you had to find Cozumel, which region would you search in first:

Caribbean Islands
or
Mexico

I was kind of under the impression that most people would be thinking... Roatan, Honduras and choose the Central/South America. Same for Cozumel, Mexico

What are your opinions?
