ok Here are some questions. My buddy Joel and I are looking at going mid June.

1. where does one leave thier car on the mainland while at the island?
2. I understand there are lockers at the Casino (we are planning on just diving the park this trip) how much do they hold, are they available 24hrs, are there plenty of them-how many
3. during an average trip what is the typical attack plan (get up take gear to casino locker, go get breakfast, get rental gear if not already from day before, head to scuba park, dive, lock stuff back up go get lunch and log dive, head back to park and dive 2 more dives, head back to hotel shower head out to dinner, back to hotel to sleep for next days diving) just my best guess.

I am sure I have more but none come to mind this moment.

Let me know.

If you are on the Catalina Express out of Dowtown Landing in Long Beach, you park in the parking structure right across from the terminal. It is $12.00/day.

The bottom lockers can hold a tank and some gear. The lockers above can hold the rest of your gear if it doesn't fit into the bottom. Also, depending on which hotel you stay at, the hotels will let you stow your gear in their lockers (i.e. Hermosa). They are available 24 hours. They have approx 20-30 lockers at Casino. During the summer months, they may be harder to come by as more tourist head to the island.

For me, it's get in the water ASAP before the students come to muck up the visibility:D . When I head over, I like to do 4 dives during the summer time and 3 dives during winter. If you get a chance, opt for a night dive, it is very cool. Basically, do what you want, when you want. Just get you last air fill by 4PM, before they close up the air fill station. Enjoy your trip!

Wow great information, glad I asked. I could not find this info in other catalina threads. Man $12 bucks a day, ouch! I dont think we considered a night dive, thats a great idea. 3 day dives and a night dive sounds to be the ticket. Now I need to pick up a light.

here is a new question, can you rent digital cameras there at all

I have a few questions coinciding with Wingnutts'. I wanted to know if Scuba Luv or CDS have inventory for Wetsuits and weights. Two items that I would prefer to rent there rather than transport.

Also has anyone taken the Ferry from Marina Del Rey to the Island? And do you Know the cost to park there?

Check the links above. You should be able to rent all the gear you need for CDS at least.

No, I haven't, but here is a useful link. http://www.catalinaexpress.com/ports.php Cost appears to be the same at $12.00/day.
