You can shore dive from Palos Verdes to Malibu. The visibility ranges from near zero to 25 feet.
I was at Catalina a couple of weeks ago & one of the divers came up with a nice size Halibut.

I've seen a number of halibut in the sand around PV during night dives.
ps. My new dive flag is almost ready - Just missing its white diagonal stripe 8)

Ok so I'm going to catalina in a few weeks, the two harbors side, im a freediver looking for some good local spots to spearfish preferably some big game. I just want to have a good trip any suggestions?
You may want to check out spearboard.com. I'm sure they'll be able to give you better information about spearfishing around the area since that's what the board is all about. I don't have any information other than that though.
