Ok so I'm going to catalina in a few weeks, the two harbors side, im a freediver looking for some good local spots to spearfish preferably some big game. I just want to have a good trip any suggestions? :D

Very few people on this board who supports hunting, but 50 million Japanese can't be wrong....welcome to the board.

Just don't go after the Giant Sea Bass or the sharks and you won't be hunted down by an angry underwater mob.

I don't mind reasonable, law-abiding spearfishing especially by free divers. Probably the best place out of Two Harbors to free dive and hunt is Ship Rock. It's a mile off shore in great white shark infested waters though.

Great whites? Maybe a few blues down below free diving depths but one my come up to spy on the intrepid spero:eyebrow:

Dave, winter before last a friend of mine was working as a stunt "diver" in the waters in the vicinity of Ship Rock. He was being filmed swimming in just his trunks at the surface. A report came over the radio that THREE great whites were sighted nearby by another dive boat. They didn't tell him until after the last take.

There have also been many reported sightings of the Landlord at the hidden reef between Ship Rock and the sub tower near Blue Cavern Point. There's a reef off the mainland side of the west end that has pelagics cruise by, but I've never seen a live fish at Catalina other than Giant Sea Bass and Angel sharks larger than three feet.

Ok I mind all the suggestions and things, but i dont mind sharks ill still dive regardless. SO besides ship rock, i have been told bird rock. I want a spot for a halibut =):D
