I tried calling Bill, and as suspected, there was no answer. I'm guessing he's safely left the island. Hopefully the damage won't be too bad.

Dr B emailed me around 4pm....

"I was just called by KNX for a local on-site radio interview. The fire is
burning towards Avalon and appears to be edging towards the ridgeline. My
housemate, Iris, says she can see flames.

They have already evacuated several areas of Avalon and I'm concerned that
we will be the next to be asked to leave out homes. I'm going to gather
together some of my most important things and be ready in case that
happens.

KNX did say that the Navy hovercraft are on their way with fire fighting
equipment. They saved the day during out big fire about 7 years ago.

Hmmm... what do I save? My dive gear? My video cameras and housings? My
memorabilia?"

He is not forgetting his research is he? Thats the most important thing, I remember my cousin's house got burn down, all he did was ran back and grab his chem and bio notes while the poor pets and irreplaceable items got burn completely. Anyways, I hope everything is okay, I wanna do some intern work on the island when I get my BS degree and thats next semester. ...may be delayed if I completely fail my Organic Chem class to bits...

That is so sad. I love that place and have gone there 3 times from Oregon. I hope that Avalon is spared much damage.
