Catalina Express NOT running from Long Beach

I'm heading over to that "Big Island" across the Channel to give a talk at the OCUPS meeting Tuesday night. So what do I read in Friday's local paper? The Catalina Express will be running boats from San Pedro, not long Beach from Tuesday, Feb 9th to I believe April 15th. Thought I'd give a heads up to all you divers out there that come to the island.

The reason is that the boat channel in Long Beach gets silted up after heavy rains and it looks like they are going to have to dredge it out to give the boats enough bottom clearance to get in and out of the berth there.

And to think, I moved my car from San Pedro to Long Beach because the San Pedro schedule was minimal at best and only on weekends during the winter months.

Bill, I posted on the other thread re: Cleanup, but the Express website says something different (March 9.) Perhaps it's best to call...

I am pleased to announce that I made the first mistake of my entire 62 years. I posted the Long Beach service would be suspended starting February 9th. I went back and re-read the paper, this time without my dirty glasses, and it is starting MARCH 9th. This will not affect the Avalon Harbor Clean-Up or anything occurring between now and March 8th. Very happy I was mistaken because it changes my travel plans for the better!!!
