And "locking the bags up" when they take your stuff back is a little, well overstating. Yes, it's in a gated area, but every time I just walk up to them and say "hey, I'm getting my bags, cool?" they say cool and I waltz in and take my bag, but I could be anyone, taking any bag.....

Chris

One time there was a shopping cart behind the lockers on the mole. I was wif wifie, and she was really sick that day, so instead of making two trips to the dubious fenced off area, I just grabbed the shopping cart and did the double schlep.

As I was getting on the boat, I unloaded the cart and sort of left it by the ticket taker. He's all "uh, dude - you gonna put that cart back...?"

I told him if he'd hold the boat, I'd walk it back over to Vons.

but there is a letter from a local instructor who is missing a pair of fins after a Casino Point class in the latest California Diving News.

Theft or mistake, things do happen. A lot of gear looks alike, as do a lot of bags. It is important to label your things. One more reason to love pink, LOL!

I must remember to get another tarp. I keep one as a liner in the trunk of my car for wet bags, but Ken is right. There are also seagulls around, and things can get slippery when wet on the bricks...

Thanks for all the great info. Esp. about the baggage guys etc.
Our group is really looking forward to the trip. We dive Catalina and San Clemente on a regular basis (couple times a month) but normally from a liveaboard. Looking forward to something different.
The trip is currently scheduled for Aug. 14 baring any problems. Hope to see some of you there.

Thanks again,
Kaz

Mo2Vation- I've been told that the sheriff's dept. is starting to cite people using Vons carts for purposes other than shopping at the grocery store. I'd be careful- it's our version of a speed trap!

I should be out at the Point while your group is here. Just look for the white jeep with the "OFFIE1" plates by the stairs.

Dr B,

thanks again for the assistance when we were late for our ferry. Surprised how much you could squeeze in that jeep!

Apart from not recall all the travel/name details all that well in my first post, i will say that you will love this place, nice easy, if not a little chilly diving, beautiful place and surprisingly remote feeling when UW compared to the hubbub on the blacktop. It ranks up there among my best dives so far! Kaz you and your students/buddies will love this place, cant wait to go again some time in a year or so.

Simon- You're more than welcome. I wasn't sure we could put everyone and their gear in the jeep either, but where there's a Dr. Bill, there's a way! Say hi to Monica if you see her.
