Casino Point dive report from the W.A.V.E.S. Project.

Monday 7-10-18 Water temp 63* morning vis 35'+ for the first two dives, 10-15' third dive. 5 black sea Bass 2 adults & 3 Juveniles. Of course lots of the fish and lobsters, ect. that hang out at the park. The Carneval cruse ship was in port, so the park filled up with snorkelers. But all in all a good day of diving with a half a dozen adaptive diving American veterans.

I see your title shows you live in Washington state. The Puget Sound is on my diving bucket list. Hope to maybe dive up there later this year.

Glad you had a good day out here. Curious as to what constituted a "juvenile" GSB in your report. Size? Based on my early research Juveniles are about a foot long after two years, and become sexually mature (and therefore no longer a juvenile) at 11-13 years and 50-60 pounds. I've seen them at other sites around the island, but not at Casino Point. However it's been a year since I've been in the water here due to my cancer.

Thank you for your input. The term "Juveniles" may have been used incorrectly, my apologizes. The two biggest ones seamed to be about 4+ feet long, 2+ feet tall, girth was hard to determine. BIG. The smaller one looked to be 2'+ x 1'+.
The park looks great Dr. Bill, the abalone are becoming more plentiful, The kelp is getting thicker. I've waited 15 years to sea these beauties, And the students get to see them on their first dive.

So true. It took me decades out here before I saw one and now OW students on their first dive get the opportunity!
