Ok, so I bought two dive knifes from a scuba store in the US (I'm from México) and got them dent to me by a parcel service but they got hold in the customs because they are considered weapons (they couldn't understand that they are for recreational diving). So they sent them back and one uncle got them for me. I'm going to the US soon, so I figured that I can carry them with me, but I don't want to have any trouble in the plane, so I figured that someone around here could tell me how can I carry them aboard the plane, Must I declare them when I check in my baggage, should I pack them in some special way? what do you do when you fly and carry your knives with you?

There was a thread about this same issue no more than 3 weeks ago. A search for "knife" should find it. Anyway, everyone's response was pretty similar. A dive knife in checked baggage should create no problems. I've done it many times. Obviously, don't even think about putting it in a carry-on bag.

I have never had problems carrying diving knives aboard any Canadian or American flight so long as the knives are in the checked luggage. You cannot take the knives as carry-on luggage. When in checked luggage, the screening staff did not seem to care how they were packed (mine were stuffed into my fins).

oops sorry, you are right, I shoulded searched for this before posting this thread.

Thanks for pointing it to me.
