Just before our dive today, a co-worker of mine(non-diver) who happened to be walking by the seawall said he heard something about a diver dying in an accdent off Cape Cod yesterday. I haven't heard anything about it. Does anyone have an info? I wondered aloud if he was thinking of the recent Doria diver death. Thanks.

Any follow up on this? I looked through Boston Globe and Cape Cod times and could not find anything.

the rescue attempt for the Doria fatality was launched out of Cape Cod by the Coast Guard, so that is probably what your non diving friend was talking about,

The Coast Guard headquarters in Woods Hole on Cape Cod received a call at 7:05 p.m. saying Bright was suffering from decompression sickness. The Coast Guard launched a helicopter from Cape Cod at 7:20 p.m. that was on scene at 7:57 p.m. and hoisted Bright aboard. The air crew continued CPR and at 8:30 p.m. transferred the diver to an ambulance at Hyannis Airport. He was taken to Cape Cod Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
