I have an I-Torch light (purchased from another diver) that came with two 32650 Li-Ion batteries. One battery has developed a small tear on the protective plastic sleeve, so I'm trying to source a replacement.

With the two "original" batteries, the light operates perfectly, but with either of the two replacement Li-Ion 32650 batteries, the light will not turn on. Static voltage for both the "original" and "new" batteries is identical (measured with a Fluke voltmeter but no load)

Does anyone have an idea about what is going wrong? All batteries show successful charging on my XTAR charger

Thanks!!

I've found the 32650s have variable top (positive) buttons and sometimes don't make good contact.
I don't know hw they are mounted in your light, but see if you can check the series voltage when installed to see if contact is being made. Maybe shim it a bit with some folded AL foil.

if your battery with the torn sleeve is otherwise still holding a charge, use packing tape to shore up the sleeve...or use heatshrink over it if there is enough space in the torch body for it. If the protective circuit or what have you is not a part of the sleeve, then remove the sleeve and then heatshrink the battery to save it.

But also check what @tursiops advised...if you have identical size batteries and identical voltage, then the issue is most likely something physical...check for the smallest differences and go from there.

Let us know what you find.
