I just bought the Canon PowerShot D10 12.1 MP Waterproof Digital Camera with 3x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.5-inch LCD. I would like to take it diving with me on my next trip instead of my Canon with underwater housing. I understand this may not be optimal but space is at a premium. My question is--how strict is the 33 foot limit? I saw one review on an Olympus rated to 33 feet that said that it was OK up to 70 feet and then the buttons just stopped working but did not leak. Anyone have info on this subject?

Can anyone help me here? Would an Olympus rated for 33 feet be safer at 70 feet or are the 2 cameras equally secure at that depth?

Hi, I don't own this camera but I don't think you can go diving with it without a housing.
This type of cameras are normally good for pools or beaches, they are not designed for diving without a housing...

A magazine took the Olympus down to 75 feet without problems. They said the buttons stopped working at a certain point but no leaking. I was wondering if the same thing was true for the Canon.
