You are going to want to use either:

Eneloop from Sanyo
Duracell Precharged (which you are getting a fresh package of four with your camera)

I will expect some photos posted please so I can be jealous of you.

Well, I hope to get photos that are better than these (I shot with my DC600)

You can be sure that I will rub it in if I do get better shots with this camera!

Of course, the "boss" just bought her first camera yesterday... Sea&Sea 2G (Oh to have a job...)

Those are pretty good shots, the 570 has it's work cut out I see :).

Guys remember, I have wet lenses that will attach native to the Ikelite housing and a focus light that I improvised a diffuser. Both of which allowed me to take each of those shots with macro settings and full daylight mode with no flash :D

Question for those using the CHDK. Are there any functions underwater that cannot be reached through the Ikelite housing?

Well, you won't be able to press the "Print" button because neither the Ikelite nor Canon housing has that button on the outside. :D

So, the easiest thing to do would be to configure CHDK to auto-run on startup. When I was figuring out how to do all of this a couple of years ago, there was a limitation on the size of the SD card (max of 2GB) on which the CHDK firmware files reside. Since I use a 8GB card, I circumvented this limitation by partitioning the SDHC card into two partitions: the CHDK files live on a very small partition and the RAW files + JPEGs are written to the second, much larger partition. Search around on the Internet to figure out how to do this.

I suppose that if you were very clever, and you knew how to mod the CHDK file, you could remap certain buttons. This would be particularly useful for remapping the "ALT" button to be something other than the "Print" button.

Thanks Bt. Yes, I do know how to partition a SDHC card. I suppose I should start looking at the files of the CHDK to see if where I need to map to a different button.

What button would you suggest it be on?

If you set up CHDK to auto-run on startup, you don't need to have access to the <ALT> button (default: Print button) while underwater. Doing it this way has a clear advantage. Since I like to turn off my camera periodically during the dive, it would get really annoying to have to step through menus and manually enter CHDK mode each time I turn the camera back on.

If I had to choose a button to remap the <ALT> button, I'd choose the "DISP" button. Let me be clear that I haven't done this since the auto-run on startup works well for me.
