I got a chance to work with camera settings and strobes today. Yeah, feeling pretty good about my choice in camera...

Got into the water today to work some things out with camera settings and strobes. Octopus were in a mood to play today...

Some of the Octos

The Canon A570 is a great little camera. There has not been in recent years a better camera for the money. The A570 is even a better choice than the A590 in that it is faster, more responsive unit when you shoot them side by side.

If it had come with RAW the big dawgs would still be going on about it, of course it does have RAW via the hack and it works fine.

Glad you like my old camera rig, it does shoot good doesn't it---?

Nemrod,
I'm still working on some of the issues (widening out the focus on some of the macros and such), I have to agree. The camera works as well as I could expect (especially after only two days in the water)

While I don't like the ball-joint setup from the SeaLife strobes, they are decent for almost any shot and have TTL so... with my hack setup, I was able to adapt the housing to my plate, slide the cables into place, take off the clear mask on the camera strobe and went to town...

Notice the Sub Sea +10 diopter that screws right into the Ikelite housing... I also have a INON fisheye (gf found while we were diving the keys). Ocean Optical Sales has the 67mm adapter that will finally allow me to use the lens with this rig!
