I had a Leo Wi for my Canon R.
I upgraded to the new Leo R.
It's big but it makes it possible to upgrade my Canons without having to buy a new housing.
I like Easydive's quality and service.

I really like the concept of a housing which doesn't go out of date with the release of a new camera.

How are you finding the Easydive housing? Any feedback, warnings, points of attention for someone who's thinking of getting one?

Tempted to get one as well, as I would love to have a housing where I can switch between a video focused camera and a better camera for photography whilst it remaining future proof.

Interesting concept. Seems sort of like the phone housings where instead of direct tactile control you basically have a computer/app in the housing that you sync with the camera either wirelessly or via a cable. So instead of pressing a mechanical button on the housing which actuates the same button on the camera, you're pressing an electronic button somewhere on the housing and trusting it and its app to interface with the camera electronically and pass on that command.

Not sure how I feel about the reliability of something like that, but it does have some advantages like the potential of being compatible with many camera bodies, and being able to power secondary displays like the one on the Leo housing. The scary parts are obviously the extra failure points in the housing computer/interface, its battery/power, and also potential issues when camera manufacturers update firmware and things like that. Plus it requires continued support and updates from the housing manufacturer, since you're basically running your camera via app now.

Seems like if a manufacturer is gonna go in the direction of the fully electronic interface, they may as well go all-in and use it to add major features like maybe a built-in big LCD display on the back of the housing. If you're already fully relying on the housing app, you may as well just cover up the camera LCD with a big 5 inch display or something. Use the housing to make a fully reconfigured interface optimized for underwater use, replacing or improving features on the camera body.

Hello,

This is the second housing I have from Easydive.

I had the Leo Wi, but when I bought the Canon R5, I had to buy the Leo R.

Right now, I have the Canon EOS R5 Mark II, and I only had to buy the camera mount.

The big advantage is not having to change the housing when we change machine.

Excellent quality and excellent support.

Disadvantages:

- Size

- Weight

- We don't have access to all the machine's functions

This is brilliant! I can't believe I've never heard of this. Thank you for sharing. I've been a professional photojournalist and cinematographer for 25+ years, but the one thing that has kept me from doing more underwater was having to change housings ever 24-36 months when technology in my DSLRs (Now mirrorless) changed. Especially since underwater wasn't my bread and butter. I'm going to order one of these as soon as possible.
