Hi everyone, i just came back from Cancun, Mexico.
I want to use this space to let evrybody know that Cancun is back and ready to take divers out.
I visited the wreck of The C-53 twice in this trip, the first, a one tank dive with Scuba Cancun, the crew was DM Jaime and the Captain was Felipe, very proffesional people had a great time we were 3 divers plus DM in this dive the wreck is located at 80' at the bottom and water temp of 75F, Our bottom time was 35 minutes. Easy to penetrate no nets or monofilament around it easy to penetrate with plenty of openings to get in and out, Jaime was incredible even when the current was very strong we enjoyed a very slow nice dive, we were able to spot about 15 Spot Eagle Rays, Barracudas, sea turtle, sting rays... but for sure the Eagle rays were my favorite.
The next day i went back to the same dive spot, this time This time with Manta Divers, Alex was the guide and his lovely wife Nicole the DM as well as UW Photographer, in this dive the conditions were much harder than the day before the current was really strong, plus i lost my mask while entering the water, but thanks to Alex, i was able to save my dive since he had an extra mask with him which he handed to me in the bottom, Alex, Thank you again, this time we were just two divers, Adam and myself, i was hoping for the eagle rays to show and guess what? they were back that day, so i was very happy to see this incredible animals again. max depth 80', water temp 75F bottom time 26minutes, we expereince an out of air situation while doing our safety stop, so i have to say this dive was challenging, but i'm happy to see that we worked well as a team everybody came back in unharm to the boat and well i was able to practise my skills. For the second dive we went to a shallow reef (Gran Pin) were we did a nice dive for 59 minutes at 45' water temp 80F Sea Turtle season, so i was able to see plenty of them and i follow one for quite a while.
My next dives were in the Cenote Caverns, this dives were part of my training as a PADI cavern diver (specialty), it was a two days course with an excellent instructor, his name is Lief, ( i hope i spelled it right) he is a German guy whos is been all over the world working as a dive instructor, i have no clue how many lenguages he speaks, but his Spanish was perfect, well he give the instruction to me and another diver, Brian, we booked this with Manta divers as well. I can't say enough of this experience, even when we were taking the course he made it fun we had the chance to see the beams of light coming from the top to the cavern, looks almost like underwater lazer beams, it was very nice, my first time visiting this caverns, but i will be back down there for sure, no much marine life, plus we were focus in learning and working in our skills, for the second day Alex and Nicole came with us to take some pictures and some video, overall a great time.
So if you guys been thinking in going to Cancun, do it 85% of the hotels are open everything is running just fine, people clean up fast after the hurricane, Playa Del Carmen was Running fine as well as Puerto Morelos.
God Bless you all, dive safe and please visit the cenote caverns.
Bye.
