I've flown direct, as well as gone through Cancun/Playa. Personally, my vacation time is worth much more to me than the difference in cost, so I would probably always choose to fly direct whenever I had the option. However, having stayed up-n-down Coz and the Riviera area, I like the hybrid approach. Fly into Cancun and stay in Playa a few days, then transfer Coz or vise-versa; best of both worlds, and keeps the experience fresh.
