My response one:

There was nothing in that poll that had not been brought out multiple times on this board. I was wanting to see what the masses thought, including the lurkers who haven't posted. Ben's friends and family should have figured out weeks ago that a social diving networking board is not the place to get REAL information or answers to any of their questions. If you read a few blogs/chatrooms from groups in Ben's hometown, you'll find that many of them are now insinuating that Ben had the capacity to pull a hoax and may have split.

I think pulling the poll was hasty and overly sensitive. The accidents and incidents thread is to dissect, evaluate and learn from something.It's not intended to be a warm and fuzzy feelgood for the family and friends.

My response two:

Not worth arguing over. It's not like I haven't had posts deleted/reported before. Pete will be at Vortex tomorrow so maybe he can look around and find Ben. The poll wasn't intended to be insensitive although the dogpiling posts after made it seem that way.

Dropping my supporting status is not a result of your specific action, but a result of cumulative actions, and my wish to save $39.95. I need the money to go to Paris.

That's not entirely accurate. Mod's are people too and as such we're not infallible. As such, there is an appeals process for reviewing decisions made by us.

I can't say that in this instance that the decision would have been reversed because 1) it was posted in A & I which has special rules and 2) some of the comments got out of hand pretty quickly.

However you did still have the right to have it reviewed and in some instances decisions can and have been rescinded.
