THAT ALL YOU GOT ;P ?????!!!!!.....What an amateur !!!!!......Come back when you have a serious list !!!!!....And your CC's are max'd out...and you have a 3rd mortgage......and you're living in an efficiency surrounded by gear....and you have storage units packed w/'stuff'....and your wife has 3 jobs...and your kids too.....That's not a list, that's a scrap of paper w/some scribbling on it.....and get rid of your conscience !!!!!....there's no 'guilty' about gear !!!!!.......Butch-up baby !!!!!.........

I only thought I had a lot of gear.

2 pair fins
1 BC
1 pair Booties
1 3mm wetsuit
1 top and bottom LavaCore
3 computers
2 watches
2 reg sets
1 camera set up (P&S) with 1 strobe and 1 video light.
2 masks
1 smb
1 knife

I am not selling any of it. I like it all.

If I add up all your numbers I almost have that many reg sets.....

The best part of having so much gear is when your digging around for lost gear in your dive locker (garage) and discover other long lost dive gear that you forgot you even had.
It then becomes like Christmas in July as you start to find even more gear that you forgot you even had.

ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS: Having more gear than your spouse can possibly keep track of makes it easier to bring in new gear undetected.

TIPS: How to bring new gear into the home without upsetting the spouse -
  1. Step one - Sneak new gear into garage along with old gear and leave it there for at least a week.
  2. Step two - Ask spouse if they have seen your old (New gear here) while searching garage for it with their assistance.
  3. Step three - Once found use the following statement "Oh there's my OLD trusty (New gear here)!

Well... sounds to me like you have a "problem" - one that we ALL have! You see it, you want it, you get it. I always say "a girl can never have too many wetsuits, bikinis or dive watches". Luckily I can feed my wetsuit addiction at the annual Dive n Surf yard sale for only a small donation to my dive locker. I like that you have your priorities in order. :)

just for kicks this is what i have accumulated after a little or 2 years of diving.

2 sets of fin
2 back up lights
1 canister light
2 single tanks
1 set of doubles
1 stage
2 bcds
1 backplate
2 wings
4 first stages
3 second stages
3 wetsuits 1 drysuit
3 masks
1 computer :shakehead:
1 compass
2 dsmb
3 reels/spool

clearly..... after crunching the numbers and intense statistical analysis... i need to i need increase diving spending by about 350% in the next 2 years.

Never! LoL! If I aquire much more I'm going to have to get a bigger apartment. I'm already contemplating getting rid of the Christmas tree and decorations just to make more room in my closet. :-) I'm thinking the tree has to go.

Then where will Santa put your new rebreather?

1 BC
1 BP/W
3 regulators (1 is for the pony)
3 HP steel cylinders + pony
4 pairs fins
3 wetsuits
4 masks
3 computers
3 dive bags (1 with wheels)
3 dive lights
1 canister
god knows how many accessories, gadgets, and gizmos

If only my "want" list was that small!

Sad news, I can't find bands to use twinning two of my S50s ....... but my LDS tech guy has two Australian Luxfer 7.9L O2 clean bottles that he can offer me with manifold etc for only $300 inclusive of a new hydro too :D

I am now thinking of selling two of my S50s now

We should all form a support group....Hi-my name is OldNSalty...I have a problem with buying gear. I have 11 tanks and a box full of regulators...A contributing factor for me is that I live in a warm water spot...I find it so hard to not buy something when I see people practically giving stuff away on craigslist.

I'm a wetsuit diver - 4 x 7mm wetsuits - one all "Jetty-Torn"-up. When a friend offered me a perfectly good wetsuit for a ridiculously low price, I jumped at it - I now own 5 and I have retired my "Jetty-Torn" and am making a new "Jetty-Torn" wetsuit for my latest one.

You can't have too many tanks - I've got 11 - especially of your favorite HP Steel 3442s -100s. And it's hard to count the regulators.
You can't have too many regulators - one may fail, or a friend may need one, or .....
You can't have too many fins - I once lost a pair at a beach - so I got 3 more pairs.
You can't have too many masks - what if they quit making your favorite.
You can't have too many ......... - ..........

I too, cannot pass up a CraigList giveaway. I bought a beautiful AL Titan DIN reg a couple of months ago for ..... !!!!!

Being close to a "a warm water spot" makes no difference. I'm 1hr 15mins from my dive spot - the cold murky Pacific NW Ocean. It was 48degrees last Friday and I got 11 (limit 12) big nice dungeness crabs. That kind of reinforcement makes me think about this following weekend!!!

I don't feel guilty, but I would like to shed/share some of my overflow with others - but I don't have time as I am diving and planning my next dive.

I don't need a support group. I need more dive buddies.

It's not an obsession - it is truly a joy!!!

Too much gear is obviously a relative thing. I have pretty much (not entirely) stopped buying gear at this point. I have a couple sets of regs now, all bought used and serviced myself. I have a homemade wing (and plate) and a store-bought wing (and plate). I have 3 or 4 sets of fins and masks and a computer. (I gave my old computer and a set of regs to my brother.) I have 3 tanks, all bought used. I have a couple of lights, a few used BCs I bought to cannabalize, about 10 wetsuits (many of which I had for kayaking and surfing already) and a still-unused-by-me dry suit I bought for $200. I may need to buy a couple of things to accommodate diving dry, like a dry hood and some new boots/fins but other than that I think I'm finished. I only get to dive about 10 times a year, though so arguably I already have way more gear than I can ever justify.

I bought almost all of it used, though, and all-told my gear purchases are just now reaching about $1800. For me it was about getting the most bang for my buck, more than accumulating more gear. I researched everything I bought before I got it and with the exception of my first BC, knew I'd be satisfied with what I got and wouldn't need to "upgrade" once I made the purchase. A lot of people shop differently than I do, or their interests change more than mine have (so far) and thus they go in other directions with their purchases. Nothing wrong with that.

Too much gear? Only if you don't have any more space for it.

Wait until you buy a liveaboard dive boat. The new gear just never stops coming!!
