I’m sure everyone has seen the signs for “$5 Psychic Readings” in their town or while traveling elsewhere. What I wanted to discuss here were your thoughts on using psychics for more than just personal entertainment, more specifically in police and detective work.

There’s been documented cases in the past where police haven’t been able to solve a crime, at which point they turn to a psychic for help.
What I find the most interesting is when the psychics they hire actually solve the case.

What are your thoughts on this? What about using psychics to help solve some of the current investigations (such as the Peterson or Hacking
trials?)

I’m not an expert myself on the topic, but I’ve been learning a bit more from a new show on Court TV called Psychic Detectives. It’s on Wednesday’s at 9:30pm in case you want to watch it too.

I personally think it's a bunch of bunk.

A few years ago I had the privilege of meeting a world-class illusionist (magician) by the name of Andre Cole. Besides putting on shows and helping other famous magicians come up with new illusions, he's part of a group that investigates the paranormal. He's even written a couple of books. He's investigated several psychics and telepaths that have fooled scientists, but says that magicians that know the tricks are never fooled.

No one predicted 9/11 or the Columbia Crash..I would think those events were fairly significant for their "radar" screens to see

If you want to know my opinion of psychics, read Mark Twain's ( Samuel Clements) novel, "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn". There is a section in the book in which the slave, Jim, is making some prognostications.

Quite amusing really, and very germaine . . .

By the above posts, nobody knows what they are talking about. Maybe I should say that nobody knows how a psychic works. I am refering to a true psychic and not someone on the street corner. If you refere to astrology then september 11 was predictedable but who would have thought about doing astrology on the US?

be prepared for this thread to be pulled especially if things get hot. Or a mod will send us all PM's telling us to cool it or get kicked out.

i predict someone will come along and flame waltz1982 at which point 185 posts
will be spent discussing the board's TOS

I will go to the first psychic that will give me some winning lottery numbers.

I know what I'm talking about. No such thing.

And with regard to "...who a psychic works..." I would say anyone who'll let 'em. ;)
