I know that AL "absorbed" Apex, but can anyone verify that they are just going to squash the brand? I saw a Titan LX at my LDS today, and it is merely a disguised Apex. Anyone know what US Divers it up to???

If you think the Aqua Lung Titan LX is a rebadged Apex, then take a look at the ATX200 and the Aqua Lung Legend series, they are identical twins, with their spec sheets reading exactly the same.

So you think I should take my Titan LX back to the shop and complain about it being a disguised version of a more expensive regulator? Hmm...

Do you definitely mean the Titan and not the Legend?

Ummm, I own both the TX-50 and the Titan LX... I'm sorry to disagree but these are by far no where near the same reg...at least performance wise.

Are you talking about the first stage? Have they changed the first stage on teh LX recently? Because these are pretty different too.

With the LX open on full and hitting the purge button I get a blast of air that I can feel to a significant level only to about 3 to 4 feet away. The TX-50 performing the same "stunt" reaches about 7 to 10 feet away. And what about the Venturi knob? Have they now added that to the new LX's?

Yes, both IMO are high performance regs but unless the 2002/3 modle of the LX has undergone some serious changes since christmass I fail to see how these two regs could be close to each other.

For the record: Not arguing with you Netdoc just looking for greater clarification on what lead you to this comparison.

Like I said in the very beginning, I really don't know. I was told this at my LDS last night, and so I am asking if anybody really DOES know. At this point it has not been verified.

BTW, does anyone know it Apex is still operating as Apex???

Well, I spoke to the owner of a LDS in the Melbourne, FL area that is a dealer for Aqua Lung and Apex, and he told me that eventhough Aqua Lung has aquired Apex, Apex is still manufacturing their own regulators in Great Britian and Aqua Lung is manufacturing their regulators in France, but reseach and development is being shared between the two.

I guess this is why the Apex ATX 200 Series resemble the Aqua Lung Legend Series not only in looks but also in specs.
