I just came back from Barbados diving with my new G9. I cannot view the raw images in Elements, the program says they are the wrong file type. They were saved as a CR2 file. Am I only going to be able to edit these pictures using the Canon software?

Which Elements are you running? My old PC E2 does not read raw. My Mac E4 does.

Camera Raw 4.4 and higher supports the G9 format, but you need to be running Photoshop Elements 4.0 or higher. You can get the updated plugin from the adobe site.

Adobe - Adobe Photoshop CS3: Digital camera raw file support

I had the same problem with my Rebel XTi CR2 files not recoginized in my older version of Photoshop. I used the free DNG converter to get around that for a while, but eventually upgraded to CS3. For quickly viewing/organizing the RAW files, you might check out the demo download of Photo Mechanic at www.camerabits.com. Pretty cool and useful app.

Dan,

I didn't realize you were shooting the Rebel XTi too! That will make four of us on the Fiji trip! What housing are you using?

Sorry for the hijack!
